Philip Staley

2007 Syrah - Russian River Valley - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery

Philip Staley has the reputation for producing a Syrah that tastes like the full-bodied, Syrah-based wines of the Northern Rhone Valley. This Syrah, blended with small amounts of Grenache and Viognier, has a deep ruby color and aromas of plum, tar, and pepper. Full on the palate, the wine has a firm structure, seamless balance, and a silky texture. Meaty, flavorful dishes of beef, lamb, or game match well with this intense wine.

2004 Syrah, Dry Creek Valley - SL Cellars

Cherry and berry fruit aromas with smoky notes make this Syrah inviting. Deep in color and with a full and concentrated mid-palate, this Rhone-style blend of Syrah and Viognier bursts with a touch of California color from the Petite Sirah, which also adds a meaty and peppery depth of flavor.

2006 Syrah - Dry Creek Valley, Mietz Cellars

2006 was a great year for red wine. The 2006 syrah grapes are from the Dry Creek Valley, farmed by Ray Teldeschi. They were picked at elevated sugar levels and maximum ripeness. This wine was aged in 100% French oak, 30% new barrels for one year.

The wine is very dark ruby, rich, and has a dark black raspberry fruit flavor juxtaposed to a very rich, toasty vanilla flavor from the oak. This syrah is balanced by sufficient acidity, is very rich, and drinking well now. It has what it takes to age 5-10 years. 450 cases produced. 92% Syrah, 8% Petite Sirah (Russian River Valley)

Price: $22.00 Siblings Clubs: $18.70 / Generations and Most Favorites Clubs: $17.60
